About Renoster

Renoster uses cutting-edge GIS technology to independently monitor the impact of forest carbon projects world-wide. Our small team is primarily based in North America and includes graduates from the forestry schools at the University of Maine, Oregon State University, and the University of British Columbia.

Duration: August - October (with potential for extension)

Requirements

The successful candidate must be able to:

  • Travel to events throughout central, western, and mid-coast Maine
  • Attend weekend events
  • Set-up and staff a booth at day-long events, including carrying a folding table and a tent (
  • Demonstrate the use of a web-based geospatial tool (similar to ESRI’s MapViewer)
  • Discuss basic concepts in forest management in easy-to-understand language

  • Ideal Qualifications

    • Significant experience in forestry, wildlife management, or land management; OR graduate student in forestry/ wildlife (advanced undergraduates welcome to apply)
    • Experience using GIS in natural resources management
    • Experience representing organizations at public events a plus
    • Familiarity with forest carbon credits a plus

    Responsibilities

    • Engage forest industry stakeholders (including landowners, foresters, loggers, etc.) at events throughout Maine
      • Set up and staff vendor booth for event duration (personal breaks included)
      • Distribute Renoster’s information materials
      • Discuss with stakeholders how Renoster’s services are relevant to their land management challenges
    • Administer surveys and conduct interviews
    • Conduct follow-up engagement
    Compensation: $3,000 for an average of 40 hours per month ($60/ hour of active outreach), for three months

    • Fuel/ charging expenses, meals, and overnight stays will be covered by Renoster separate from pay
    • The majority of these hours will take place over weekends. However, some training, outreach, and travel
    • Per-event pay includes time outside of event training with Renoster team. Training with Renoster team will not exceed an average of an hour per week
    • Note potential to swim, hike, network, and camp out after events close for the day
