Senior Data Engineer (m/f/d)

AI Agents to Bridge the Gap between Engineering & Purchasing to reduce manufacturing waste

💸
Referral bonus: If you know someone exceptional feel free to connect us via the mail above, if we end up hiring them, you’ll receive 2,500€.
My co-founder Ian and I combine over 15 years of industry experience, working with companies like SEW-Eurodrive, Terex, Bosch and Carl Zeiss. We co-founded Resourcly, a Techstars-backed, industrial tech start-up to help industrial manufacturers streamline complex portfolios to improve EBIT while preventing and reducing idle inventory from being scrapped.
With our solution we want to solve industry problems that we have tried to address for the last decade in the manufacturing companies we worked for, but that have so far been out of reach. With new technology and AI, that can finally happen.
Complex processes and products, lack of engineering talent and massive labour costs as well as a lack of intelligent automation have remained the industry’s most pressing challenge. With LLMs and agents, we finally have the tools to solve this.
Our vision is that future purchasing and engineering processes will be orchestrated and run by an AI workforce - ensuring reliable and cost-efficient procurement and flow of goods in an uncertain and complicated world with finite resources.
🦾 We're already live with global manufacturing leaders in Europe
💰 Backed by one of Europe's top early-stage funds
📈 Growing fast and hiring exceptional talent to join early
Our goal is to build a small, but excellent team, therefore we are looking for a Senior Data Engineer. If you are excited to work in a very early-stage environment alongside the founders, stellar data scientists and engineers, using AI at the product core to solve meaningful problems - please reach out.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to lead the design and build of Resourcly’s data backbone – connecting fragmented systems, enriching inventory metadata, and powering decisions that keep machines working and inventory circulating.
You’ll play a foundational role in shaping our data infrastructure – from ingestion and transformation to analytics and interoperability. This is a hands-on, high-impact role that blends technical ownership with platform thinking. You’ll collaborate closely with product, engineering, and customers to unify data from ERP, MRP, PDM, CAD, and logistics systems – while enabling scalable insights across supply chains.

Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain scalable data pipelines that integrate with diverse systems (e.g., ERP, PLM, MES, logistics APIs).
Develop flexible data models that support needed workflows for the Shared Inventory.
Lead data enrichment processes using internal and third-party sources.
Implement observability, version control, and lineage tracking across our data stack.
Partner with product & design teams to expose data via APIs and dashboards that drive business action.
Advocate for robust documentation, security, and governance practices as we scale.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a strong engineering culture.

Skills & Experience

🛠 What You Bring

5+ years of experience in data engineering or related backend engineering roles in high growth startup
Strong Python and SQL skills; comfortable with transforming messy, inconsistent, multi-source data. Familiarity with Cypher is a plus.
Experience designing and operating production-grade data pipelines using tools like Airflow, dbt, or Dagster.
Proven success working with cloud data platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS, Snowflake, BigQuery).
Experience with managed database services (e.g., RDS) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
Familiarity with DevOps practices for data pipeline deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure automation.
Experience with API development or integration – especially with ERP, logistics, or manufacturing systems.
A passion for building structured systems out of unstructured data chaos.

Bonus Points For

Familiarity with industrial data formats and systems (e.g., CSV/Excel exports from ERP, CAD metadata, BOM structures).
Experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or asset-heavy industries.
Working knowledge of part classification standards, master data, or material traceability challenges.
Exposure to graph databases

🧑‍🚀 Who You Are

Take full ownership, from concept to deployment and do whatever it takes to get the job done.
Write code fast and scrap it even faster, but know when to transition to building for scale and quality.
Enjoy talking to internal and external stakeholders and iterating based on feedback.
Are willing to work hard, to create something new and groundbreaking.
Startup mindset - speed, high agency, resourceful, low ego (company first mindset), and obsessed with creating value
Our tech stack: We use Postgres, AWS, GCloud, Django, SpringBoot, Flutter, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, automatic Tests in Selenium and Pytest, Git, Java, Dart, Python, Terraform. From our Data & AI side Neo4j, Langchain and RAG are relevant technologies.

📍 Location & Logistics

3 days in Office (Berlin or Mannheim, Germany)
Expect regular customer visits
Start: As soon as possible
Compensation: Top of market (incl. equity) (We're constrained by bandwidth, not demand - great time to negotiate)

🌍 Note from Helena, CEO of Resourcly

What drives me personally is the deep belief that Germany and Europe’s long-term prosperity and sovereignty depend on a strong, independent economic engine. To secure that future, we need more AI product-first European champions on the global stage - building not just great software, but foundational systems that change how industries operate toda.
My mission is to build one of the world’s biggest automation companies for manufacturing - from Europe. While our headquarters will remain European, our ambition is global. From day one, we benchmark ourselves against the very best in the world and design our product for international scale.
But there’s something deeper that fuels this: the transition to a circular economy. I’ve seen firsthand how complexity in supply chains leads to waste, and how intransparency drives inefficiency - and, inevitably, more waste. In a world of shrinking resources and rising expectations, this is not just an environmental problem - it's a business and economic imperative.
At Resourcly, we’re building the infrastructure to turn unused resources into opportunities, to match supply and demand across silos, and to help manufacturers become more resilient, efficient, and circular - without needing to overhaul their entire systems.
If you share this drive - to make global impact through technology, and to build a more circular, sovereign industrial base for Europe - I’d love to hear from you.
