Business Intelligence Engineer (m/f/d)

AI Agents to Bridge the Gap between Engineering & Purchasing to reduce manufacturing waste

My co-founder Ian and I combine over 15 years of industry experience, working with companies like SEW-Eurodrive, Terex, Bosch and Carl Zeiss. We co-founded Resourcly, a Project A-backed, industrial tech start-up to help industrial manufacturers streamline complex portfolios to improve EBIT while preventing and reducing idle inventory from being scrapped.
With our solution, we want to solve industry problems that we have tried to address for the last decade in the manufacturing companies we worked for, but that have so far been out of reach. With new technology and AI, that can finally happen.
Complex processes and products, lack of engineering talent and massive labour costs as well as a lack of intelligent automation have remained the industry's most pressing challenge. With LLMs and agents, we finally have the tools to solve this.
Our vision is that future purchasing and engineering processes will be orchestrated and run by an AI workforce - ensuring reliable and cost-efficient procurement and flow of goods in an uncertain and complicated world with finite resources.
🦾 We're already live with global manufacturing leaders in Europe
💰 Backed by one of Europe's top early-stage funds (Project A)
📈 Growing fast and hiring exceptional talent to join early
Our goal is to build a small, but excellent team, therefore we are looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer. If you are excited to work in a very early-stage environment alongside the founding team, building the data foundation the whole company steers by, using data to drive better decisions - please reach out.

The Role

As our Business Intelligence Engineer, you will build, own, and evolve Resourcly's internal data applications and BI infrastructure, and use it to improve the company's basis for decision-making. Your mission is to drive Resourcly toward becoming a fully data-driven organization that knows where it's winning, where it's leaking value, and what to do next.
This is not a back-office reporting role. You will be the first dedicated hire for internal analytics, which means you'll shape the data stack, modelling conventions, and BI tooling from the ground up rather than inherit them. You'll work closely with our COO & Co-Founder, alongside Engineering, Sales, Customer Success, and Product, giving you visibility into how every part of the business runs on data from day one. The role demands a rare combination: genuine excellence in data engineering paired with the business judgment to understand context, ask the right questions, and translate numbers into direction leadership can act on.

Key Responsibilities

Design and own the core data models underpinning Resourcly's internal data applications, applying sound dimensional modelling principles and turning raw, messy source data from product, CRM, and operational systems into clean, reusable single sources of truth
Build and maintain dashboards and pipelines in modern BI tools that stakeholders actually use, reliably moving data from source systems into the analytics layer with SQL, dbt where applicable, and orchestration where needed
Turn data into direction by proactively mining the data we gather across product, sales, CS, and operations to surface where Resourcly can work smarter, then building the models and dashboards that drive those improvements
Act as the translator between business questions and data, taking an ambiguous stakeholder ask, identifying the right data sources, and understanding how it fits into the broader architecture, while prioritizing the highest-impact requests over "nice to have" tinkering
Establish and enforce data quality, governance, and documentation standards across the stack, maintaining version control discipline and fixing discrepancies at the source, not just the symptom

Who You Are

Take full ownership: From data model and pipeline through dashboard and the decision it drives, you own outcomes, not just activities
Bring a startup mindset with high agency: Comfortable with ambiguity, willing to build the data stack and conventions from scratch, and quick to experiment and iterate based on business impact
Business-oriented, not tool-obsessed: You're motivated by delivering value to stakeholders, not by tinkering for its own sake, and you judge what needs a full dashboard vs. a Google Sheet export vs. a quick number in Slack
Pragmatic about speed and rigor: You ship fast, but not at the cost of data trust, and you know when "good enough" moves a decision forward
A clear communicator: You explain technical data concepts to non-technical stakeholders and surface progress, risks, and trade-offs early
Low ego, company-first mindset: You prioritize long-term impact over personal credit and earn trust across the team through results

Your Capabilities

You can model and architect data: You have working knowledge of dimensional data modelling (Kimball/Inmon), understand fact and dimension tables and how they fit together, and can build clean, well-documented, reusable models from messy real-world sources
You can build and run reliable BI: Advanced SQL (experience with dbt is a plus), hands-on experience with at least one modern BI tool (Looker Studio, Metabase, Tableau, or Power BI), and version control discipline (git); basic Python for orchestrating pipelines (e.g. Airflow) is a plus
You can turn data into decisions: You understand how the business runs, can take an ambiguous question and identify the data that answers it, and translate numbers into clear, actionable insight that improves how leadership and teams decide
You bring 2+ years in an Analytics Engineering, Data Analyst, or BI Engineer role in an early-stage startup with a track record of both technical depth and business impact, not just building dashboards, but changing decisions
You are fluent in English (German is a strong plus)

Location & Logistics

3 days in office (Mannheim, Germany)
Start: As soon as possible
Compensation: Top of market (We're constrained by bandwidth, not demand - great time to negotiate)

How to Apply

Please send your CV together with a brief introduction to our Founders Associate Nils (nils@resourcly.com) and we will get back to you!

Note from Helena, CEO of Resourcly

What drives me personally is the deep belief that Germany and Europe's long-term prosperity and sovereignty depend on a strong, independent economic engine. To secure that future, we need more AI product-first European champions on the global stage - building not just great software, but foundational systems that change how industries operate today.
My mission is to build one of the world's biggest automation companies for manufacturing - from Europe. While our headquarters will remain European, our ambition is global. From day one, we benchmark ourselves against the very best in the world and design our product for international scale.
But there's something deeper that fuels this: the transition to a circular economy. I've seen firsthand how complexity in supply chains leads to waste, and how intransparency drives inefficiency - and, inevitably, more waste. In a world of shrinking resources and rising expectations, this is not just an environmental problem - it's a business and economic imperative.
At Resourcly, we're building the infrastructure to turn unused resources into opportunities, to match supply and demand across silos, and to help manufacturers become more resilient, efficient, and circular - without needing to overhaul their entire systems.
If you share this drive - to make global impact through technology, and to build a more circular, sovereign industrial base for Europe - we would love to hear from you.
