Forward Deployed Engineer (m/f/d)

AI Agents to Bridge the Gap between Engineering & Purchasing to reduce manufacturing waste

My co-founder Ian and I combine over 15 years of industry experience, working with companies like SEW-Eurodrive, Terex, Bosch and Carl Zeiss. We co-founded Resourcly, a Project A-backed, industrial tech start-up to help industrial manufacturers streamline complex portfolios to improve EBIT while preventing and reducing idle inventory from being scrapped.
With our solution, we want to solve industry problems that we have tried to address for the last decade in the manufacturing companies we worked for, but that have so far been out of reach. With new technology and AI, that can finally happen.
Complex processes and products, lack of engineering talent and massive labour costs as well as a lack of intelligent automation have remained the industry's most pressing challenge. With LLMs and agents, we finally have the tools to solve this.
Our vision is that future purchasing and engineering processes will be orchestrated and run by an AI workforce - ensuring reliable and cost-efficient procurement and flow of goods in an uncertain and complicated world with finite resources.
🦾 We're already live with global manufacturing leaders in Europe
💰 Backed by one of Europe's top early-stage funds (Project A)
📈 Growing fast and hiring exceptional talent to join early
Our goal is to build a small, but excellent team, therefore we are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer. If you are excited to work in a very early-stage environment alongside the founding team, owning customer engagements end to end and shaping the product from the field - please reach out.

The Role

As our Forward Deployed Engineer, you will be Resourcly's technical owner of every customer engagement - taking manufacturers from raw, messy industrial data to validated business value in weeks. You sit at the front line with procurement leads and industrial operators: running technical discovery, deploying and configuring the platform on real customer data, and delivering business cases that convert pilots to production.
This is a hands-on, full-lifecycle role spanning pre-sales through delivery. You will work directly with customer data, configure and extend the platform, and contribute code back into the core product. You report to the Founding Engineer and are Resourcly's first dedicated forward deployed hire - helping define the function and its playbook as we scale.

🪄 Key Responsibilities

Run technical discovery and pilot scoping: Partner with founders and prospects to uncover procurement and inventory pain, assess the customer data landscape, and define measurable success criteria and a clear pilot hypothesis
Deploy and configure the platform for each customer: Get the platform running on real customer data, map and integrate their data sources, and validate output quality before results reach the customer
Quantify and present business value: Translate platform outputs into a concrete business case and live demo for economic buyers - procurement leads and CFOs
Drive production rollout and adoption: Move converted customers from pilot to production, set up ongoing data flows, and drive user adoption through onboarding and integration with existing workflows
Contribute to the core product: Write production code and build reusable components that feed field learnings back into the platform, making each subsequent deployment faster

🧑‍🚀 Who You Are

Take full ownership: Operate like a startup CTO for each engagement - from the first discovery call through production adoption, with high agency and minimal guidance
Bias to action: Get to measurable value in weeks, not months; prototype fast, harden what works, and know when good enough beats perfect
Customer-obsessed: Genuinely enjoy being in front of customers and measure success by value delivered, not lines of code shipped
Commercially minded: Understand the buying decision and frame all technical work around measurable business outcomes; comfortable presenting to executives
Resilient under ambiguity: Thrive with messy data, shifting scope, and concurrent pilots; stay calm when inputs are imperfect and timelines are tight
Proactive communicator: Transparently share progress, blockers, and risk with customers and internal leadership - no surprise slippages
Low ego, company-first: Productize and share learnings rather than hoarding bespoke, one-off solutions

🧑‍💻 Your Capabilities

You have 5-7 years across software engineering and customer-facing technical roles: Forward deployed engineering, solutions engineering, implementation engineering, or technical consulting - you have delivered real customer outcomes end to end
You can build and debug production code: Hands-on experience in Python and/or Go; you can build integrations, extend pipelines, and contribute meaningfully to a production codebase
You can work with any industrial data: Strong experience integrating and harmonizing messy real-world data from ERP systems and other enterprise sources into structured, usable formats
You are comfortable across the full stack: SQL, APIs, cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred) - enough to configure, deploy, and debug independently
You can build and present a business case: Experience quantifying ROI from technical work and presenting findings clearly to procurement leads and CFOs
You manage complex engagements: Proven ability to run discovery, manage scope and risk, and keep multiple concurrent stakeholders and pilots on track
You are fluent in German and English (professional working proficiency in both - required for the DACH customer base)
Nice to have: Domain knowledge in manufacturing, supply chain, or procurement; ERP/PLM experience (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Teamcenter); AI/ML integration experience; pre-sales or solutions engineering background with industrial customers

📍 Location & Logistics

Mannheim / Berlin (preferably Mannheim), with travel up to ~50% to customer sites across the DACH region and beyond
Start: As soon as possible
Compensation: Top of market (We're constrained by bandwidth, not demand - great time to negotiate)

How to Apply

Please send your CV together with a brief introduction to Marco Ohde (marco.extern@resourcly.com) and we will get back to you!

🌍 Note from Helena, CEO of Resourcly

What drives me personally is the deep belief that Germany and Europe's long-term prosperity and sovereignty depend on a strong, independent economic engine. To secure that future, we need more AI product-first European champions on the global stage - building not just great software, but foundational systems that change how industries operate today.
My mission is to build one of the world's biggest automation companies for manufacturing - from Europe. While our headquarters will remain European, our ambition is global. From day one, we benchmark ourselves against the very best in the world and design our product for international scale.
But there's something deeper that fuels this: the transition to a circular economy. I've seen firsthand how complexity in supply chains leads to waste, and how intransparency drives inefficiency - and, inevitably, more waste. In a world of shrinking resources and rising expectations, this is not just an environmental problem - it's a business and economic imperative.
At Resourcly, we're building the infrastructure to turn unused resources into opportunities, to match supply and demand across silos, and to help manufacturers become more resilient, efficient, and circular - without needing to overhaul their entire systems.
If you share this drive - to make global impact through technology, and to build a more circular, sovereign industrial base for Europe - we would love to hear from you.
