JOB TITLE: MS/ HS Attendance Clerk

WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt

FUNDING SOURCE: Local

REPORTS TO: Campus Principal

PAY GRADE: P40

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Maintain accurate and complete student attendance records

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Certification:

  • High School Diploma or GED, required
  • Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Knowledge of general office equipment
  • Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively use district attendance programs after standard training and with reasonable help-desk assistance
  • Ability to operate a computer using a variety of basic applications
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Minimum Experience

One (1) year of clerical/secretarial experience or other equivalent experience or background

Major Responsibilities And Job Duties

  • Perform all clerical duties necessary to maintain accurate and complete student attendance and other student records within established district guidelines
  • Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student attendance issues
  • Assist students, teachers, and parents as needed
  • Receive incoming calls and take reliable messages as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality of information and student records and maintain loyalty to the district
  • Remain informed of and comply with state, district, and school policies and regulations concerning primary job functions.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written). Should be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making. Perform tasks with frequent interruptions; Maintain emotional control under stress; Work to meet established deadlines; Repetitive hand motions; Prolonged use of computer; Occasional prolonged and irregular hours; Communicate effectively (verbal and written)

Tools/Equipment Used: Computer, printer, copier, telephone, calculator, and facsimile

Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Frequent walking; repetitive computer work with frequent use of hands and wrists

Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment

Safety: Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidents immediately to the supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
