High School Assistant Principal Secretary Job Description

JOB TITLE: High School Assistant Principal Secretary

WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Nonexempt

FUNDING SOURCE: Local

REPORTS TO: Assistant Principal

PAY GRADE: Paraprofessional 040 (200 Days)

DEPARTMENT: Campus

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Provide a positive, well-managed environment in the assistant principals’ office, and assist the vice-principals and assistant principal as needed

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Certification:

  • High School Dipoloma or GED

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Proficient skills in typing, word processing, and file maintenance
  • Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to operate a computer using a variety of basic applications

Minimum Experience

One (1) year of clerical/secretarial experience or other equivalent experience or background

Major Responsibilities And Duties

  • Coordinate visits by students, teachers, and parents to the vice-principals’ offices
  • Receive incoming calls, take reliable messages, and schedule appointments
  • Assist students, teachers, and parents as needed
  • Maintain proper files as required
  • Prepare correspondence, forms, and reports as requested
  • Maintain confidentiality of information and loyalty to the district
  • Remain informed of and comply with state, district, and school policies and regulations concerning primary job functions

Computer, fax machine, copier, telephone, etc.

Working Conditions

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Must maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem solving skills while under stress. Repetitive hand motions. Prolonged use of computer. Work with frequent interruptions.

Safety: Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidences immediately to supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
