Position Overview:
We are looking for a detail-oriented tinkerer to start or continue a career as a Robot Repair Technician. The Robot Repair Technician will play a vital role in RobotLAB’s future by clearly communicating with customers and the Customer Success team, diagnosing problems in hardware or hardware-software interaction, executing repairs and/or creating solutions. The Robot Repair Technician will also be responsible for stress testing and cleaning repaired robots to ensure the customer gets the robot back in “like new” condition.
An outstanding Robot Repair Technician is a “MacGyver” or a Maker (or both): A creative thinker who can approach a new problem from multiple angles without an instruction manual. Attention to details is essential, along with strong problem-solving and reasoning skills. The Robot Repair Technician may be asked to do something nobody has ever done, and finds that more interesting than intimidating.
Qualifications:
RobotLAB repairs have been completed by a Stuntman, an Auto Mechanic, a Teacher, and an Electrical Engineer. The list below is not definitive or exhaustive. - Relevant diploma or certificate
- Successful working experience in hardware-software interaction, Computer Science, Robotics or related field
- Hands-on experience with tools, Making, and/or repairs
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to manage and adapt to rapidly changing priorities
- Strong critical thinking and logical reasoning skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Creative problem solver (a “MacGyver”)
- “Let’s find out” attitude
- Tendency or impulse to take something apart instead of throwing it away
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair robotic equipment, sometimes without instructions
- Diagnose malfunctions, investigate likely causes, and evaluate success or failure of interventions
- Manage operating system versions, perform upgrades and downgrades
- Document incoming and outgoing robots
- Thoroughly document problem behaviors and attempts made to remedy the problem
- Learn multiple robot platforms
- Clean robots before returning to customers
- Provide technical support to customers over email or online video conferencing (e.g. Zoom)
- Provide updates to customers on the status of robot repairs
- Seek out technical support from manufacturers
- Track projects in our CRM (Salesforce) and other web-based platforms
- Manage your time across multiple customers and projects to meet aggressive timelines
- Travel may be required, up to 2 weeks per year
- Monday through Friday work week, located in the Repair Center in Southlake, TX
