Product Research Program Manager, Youth

Product Research Program Managers build and scale global research programs, working hand in hand with UX Researchers to design, execute and socialize user-centered research insights that influence key product decisions on company-wide product priorities. In this role, you will define, establish, and maintain global operational and company-wide programs as well as work alongside cross-functional partners and leadership to craft and facilitate research-driven product decisions. You’ll help cross-functional teams mobilize, prepare and execute for critical product reviews and you'll utilize a full range of organizational, programmatic and communication skills to help our product teams leverage data in the product development lifecycle, and operate at their most effective level. The Youth Product RPM will partner directly with the Central Youth UXR organization to build programs to support quick-turn, decision-influencing research for 0-1 product development to expand Instagram's Teen Accounts across Meta's Family of Apps. Building safe, engaging experiences for Teens is a company-level priority, and the Youth Research organization has the opportunity to build access to and understanding of Teens to influence Meta's broader Youth strategy. This position has both the responsibility and opportunity to provide and enhance connection and collaboration across Meta's research teams and cross-functional functions focused on this priority audience and products to serve it.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Youth cross-functional and Youth UX Research organization-level leadership on establishing effective team communication, information distribution, and cross-team collaboration
  • Lead preparation for product reviews including creating + enforcing development deadlines, coordinating review timelines with development deadlines, and reviewing/preparing accompanying review documentation
  • Define and manage strategic initiatives that improve team efficiency and impact, establishing operational systems and outcomes
  • Proactively identify and partner with stakeholders on internal processes, templates, and guidelines to improve team optimization and documentation
  • Proactively manage expectations: define clear program roadmaps, provide frequent program updates, identify and communicate risks and adjustments, and ensure commitments are delivered
  • Support research planning and allocation by helping track, align and forecast team budget
  • Manage relationships with cross-functional partners, such as Design, Legal, and Policy
  • Support and execute special team projects that build impact and drive clarity of purpose
  • Provide varied approaches that meet team needs, including the capacity to move fast and make progress or navigate blocks quickly
  • Serve as a link to the Global Research Operations team, leveraging new processes or best practices when relevant and collaborating on programs specific to the team’s needs
  • Facilitate relationships between teams, move initiatives forward, find resources, escalate and raise concerns to appropriate owners early and resolve open issues that prevent progress

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant experience as a project or program manager
  • 3+ years of experience working directly with UX Research, Market Research or Product Design
  • Acumen in research impact on product lifecycle
  • 3+ years working directly with product / development teams
  • Experience working directly with leadership
  • Experience with establishing programs and leading them end-to-end while scaling for growth
  • Experience building relationships with peers and stakeholders and collaborating with cross-functional teams across multiple locations
  • Experience communicating with data to drive change
  • Track record of operating under your own initiative, embracing ambiguity, demonstrating creativity, being detail-oriented, and delivering results in a highly organized manner
  • Experience being successful in a time-sensitive environment that requires effective time management, task prioritization, flexibility, and experience identifying problems and proactively work towards solutions
  • Demonstrated communication skills for interacting with and influencing researchers, cross functional stakeholders, management, and external partners with the experience adapting communication style to suit different audiences
  • Experience articulating a strategy that inspires researchers and leadership

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in vendor management
  • Experience leading “task force” or “tiger team” style initiatives
  • Experience leading or participating in cross-company, horizontal initiatives
  • Experience working with Teens / Youth, Parents or families as research participants, in design programs or in product development
  • Experience working in sensitive domains that require close partnership with legal, privacy and policy teams
