Samaritan is a support platform that empowers people without a home to move forward. Samaritan distributes low-energy beacons, about the size of a quarter, to individuals in need through nonprofit shelters (starting with the Union Gospel Mission in Seattle). These tiny beacons create an incredibly efficient way to give. If users have the Samaritan app and pass by or meet a beacon holder, they will receive a simple notification with the opportunity to give or learn of the person's journey. If the user decides to donate, the beacon holder can then spend the money at select merchants or through a nonprofit counselor on things that can truly help (warm clothing, transportation, a good haircut, and more).
