About Your Team: Sensei's Operations team is at the forefront of implementing and maintaining our innovative systems in the field. This agile team works closely with Product and Engineering to optimize infrastructure solutions, develop deployment and maintenance plans, and manage third-party contractors. We are dedicated to ensuring quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in all our implementations and ongoing operations, driving the successful expansion of Sensei's cutting-edge retail technologies internationally.
How Can You Help? We are looking for a hands-on Maintenance Manager to support the upkeep and optimization of our systems on the field. A significant part of this role will require you to go to the field to fix issues, perform diagnostics, and debug systems. You will be at the center of Product and Operations and will manage other maintenance team members. You will help design and improve the maintenance process of our hardware with a focus on quality, efficiency and cost. You will also help grow our partner network in the field, finding and onboarding new partners and supporting current ones.
You’ll play a critical role in optimizing our infrastructure solutions, developing maintenance plans, and managing third-party contractors and on-site maintenance. You're a proven leader, having managed people in your career. You are used to designing and managing maintenance projects (civil engineering, electrical, hvac) and managing partner teams on-site across several locations. You’re used to managing budgets and timelines to ensure the best delivery. You’re focused on optimizing the process and the product for the client.
Daily at Sensei, you will:
- Set up scalable maintenance processes: Develop and implement maintenance routines that ensure the best possible uptime for our stores.
- Identify improvement opportunities: Analyze existing hardware components to identify areas for improvement and work collaboratively with the engineering team to implement them.
- Develop support documentation: Create documentation and guidelines to empower store teams and external partners to perform maintenance procedures autonomously.
- Support the development and implementation of tooling: Collaborate on the development and implementation of solutions that make maintenance tasks more scalable and cost-effective.
- On-site intervention: When necessary, travel to locations to rectify hardware issues.
- Set up preventive maintenance plans: Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans with internally defined routes and periodicities, and in conjunction with partners.
You Will Bring to the Table:
- Have a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar field.
- Have +5 years of maintenance experience, preferably within the tech, retail, or logistics sectors.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of physical infrastructure, including cabling, electrical systems, and hardware mounting.
- Management Skills: Proven experience managing contractors and site maintenance.
- Organizational and Communication: Exceptional organizational and communication abilities.
- Language Proficiency: Fluent in Portuguese and English. Spanish or French are a significant plus.
- Industry Knowledge (Plus Points):
- Familiarity with the retail industry.
- Experience with IoT installation.
- Experience in fast-paced tech startup environments.
- Basic knowledge of networking.
- Experience with project management software (e.g., Jira).
- Experience with CRM software (e.g., Odoo, SAP).
- Travel and Problem-Solving:
- Available and enjoys traveling to different client locations (expect >30% travel time).
- Enjoys hands-on problem-solving in stressful situations.
After Six Months, Success Means:
- Deep Technological Understanding: You will have developed a comprehensive understanding of Sensei's software and hardware technology, enabling you to troubleshoot effectively and contribute to technical discussions.
- You increased the uptime of our stores through more recurrent and professional maintenance.
- You outsourced a large part of the maintenance tasks to store teams and local partners.
- You assisted in the creation of new tools that support field teams.
- You supported the engineering team in improving the hardware present in our solution.
