Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly organized, end-to-end Landscape Project Manager to own the full lifecycle of landscape projects—from initial design inspiration through final installation. This role sits at the intersection of design, sales, and execution, with full responsibility for managing independently contracted landscape designers and installation partners.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, creative, and operationally complex environment, and who enjoys bringing ideas to life by coordinating people, process, and place.
Key Responsibilities
Design Oversight & Project Ownership
- Own all landscape design orders from intake through installation completion.
- Assign independently contracted (1099) landscape designers to projects based on credentials, availability, scope, and client needs
- Serve as the primary operational point of contact for designers throughout the design process
- Ensure design timelines, deliverables, and quality standards are met
- Review designs for install feasibility, scope clarity, and alignment with client expectations
Project Sales & Design-to-Install Conversion
- Drive conversion of approved designs into sold plant material and installation projects
- Partner with designers and operations teams to translate designs into executable installation scopes, develop detailed pricing and cost estimates, and structure projects to achieve defined margin targets
- Ensure all plant material and installation services are clearly documented and approved prior to execution
- Identify opportunities to enhance project value while maintaining design integrity and client trust
Installation Coordination & Execution
- Manage installation projects from design handoff through completion
- Assign projects to independently contracted (1099) installation companies based on project complexity, skill set, location, and schedule
- Coordinate installation timelines, materials, site readiness, and milestones
- Oversee execution to ensure installations align with approved designs and quality standards. Manage change orders, including pricing and documentation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for installers during project execution
- Conduct regular site visits and inspections. Maintain accurate project records, photos, and logs
- Enforce safety expectations and stop-work authority when required
Client Experience & Communication
- Act as the client-facing lead throughout the project lifecycle, particularly during install
- Set clear expectations around timelines, scope, and next steps
- Proactively communicate changes, risks, or delays and present solutions
- Ensure a smooth, professional, and positive client experience from start to finish
Contractor & Partner Management
- Oversee performance and relationships with independently contracted designers and installers. Provide feedback to improve quality, consistency, and efficiency
- Track availability, credentials, and project outcomes
- Ensure contractors meet documentation, insurance, and compliance requirements
- Recruit and onboard new contracted designers and installers as needed.
Operational & Process Excellence
- Track project status, timelines, and financials using internal systems
- Coordinate plant material sourcing and delivery in alignment with installation schedules
- Flag risks, scope changes, or execution challenges early
- Continuously improve workflows that support a seamless inspiration-to-execution process
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in project management, landscape design/build, construction, or a related field. Background in landscape architecture, horticulture, or design/build operations are highly preferred
- Demonstrated experience managing contractors or freelance professionals.
- Strong understanding of landscape design, installation processes, and sequencing. Demonstrated ability to price jobs and projects accurately, including labor, materials, and installation scope
- Excel proficiency required, with the ability to build, review, and manage project budgets and pricing.
- CAD experience preferred but not required (ability to read and interpret plans is a plus).
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Experience in a sales-adjacent or client-facing role
- Excellent communication, organization, and decision-making skills
- Comfortable owning outcomes and driving projects to completion
- Proficiency with project management tools, CRMs, or operational software (or ability to learn quickly)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to visit job sites as needed.
