About Us
SkyServe delivers actionable maritime domain awareness by fusing spaceborne observation with behavioral intelligence. While automated machine learning models detect AIS anomalies, dark-vessel radar signatures, and satellite optical matches, illicit actors constantly obscure their physical and digital footprints through shell corporations, flag hopping, identity laundering, and fraudulent documentation.
Position Overview
We are seeking an OSINT Analyst – Maritime Domain Awareness to drive investigative intelligence operations. In this role, you will cross-reference satellite-derived tracking anomalies with public records, maritime registries, corporate filings, social media, shipping manifests, and grey literature. Your investigations will uncover the entities, beneficial owners, and illicit networks behind sanctions evasions, illegal transshipments (STS transfers), dark fleet operations, and maritime smuggling.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deep-Dive Maritime Investigations & Network Mapping
Investigate anomalous vessel behaviors identified by SkyServe’s MDA platform (e.g., prolonged AIS blackouts, spoofed locations, suspicious rendezvous in international waters).Map illicit logistics networks involved in sanctioned oil trading, illegal bunkering, weapons/contraband trafficking, and illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.2. Multi-Source Intelligence Collection & Verification
Collect and evaluate open-source information from maritime registries (Equasis, IMO GISIS, classification societies, regional MOU inspection databases like Paris/Tokyo MoU).Mine customs declarations, bills of lading (e.g., ImportYeti, Panjiva), port state control records, trade records, and maritime court filings.Exploit digital footprints, including port worker forums, local marine community boards, satellite imagery archives, social media (VK, Telegram, X, WeChat), and coastal webcam feeds to verify vessel physical alterations, draft changes, or superstructure modifications.3. Threat Briefings & Actionable Intelligence Production
Author tactical intelligence alerts, dossiers, and strategic case studies for defense forces, coast guards, port authorities, and maritime insurance clients.Translate raw, unstructured open-source data into structured intelligence formats (entity graphs, timelines, link-analysis charts) utilizing tools like Gephi.Maintain a dynamic watchlist of high-risk vessels, front companies, and recurring transfer hubs in sensitive maritime zones (e.g., Malacca Strait, Persian Gulf, Black Sea, South China Sea).4. Collaboration with AI & Solutions Teams
Partner with Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers to translate investigative tradecraft into automated detection heuristics and risk-scoring rules.Validate automated threat flags generated by the platform, providing human-in-the-loop ground truth to benchmark model precision and reduce false alarms. What We Are Looking For
Must-Have Qualifications:
Experience: 2–5 years of professional experience conducting open-source intelligence (OSINT), threat intelligence, geopolitical risk analysis, or financial crime / sanctions investigations—with a clear focus on the maritime or defense sector.Investigative Tradecraft: Deep knowledge of advanced search operators (Google dorking), reverse image/document searching, corporate registry exploration, and social media intelligence (SOCMINT).Maritime Domain Fluency: Understanding of maritime operating structures: IMO/MMSI schemas, flags of convenience (Panama, Liberia, Marshall Islands, etc.), vessel classification societies, charter parties, and Ship-to-Ship (STS) transfer operations.Sanctions & Compliance Familiarity: Working familiarity with international sanctions regimes (OFAC, EU, UN Security Council resolutions) and common evasion tactics (flag hopping, identity theft, false documentation).Communication & Synthesis: Exceptional analytical writing skills capable of structuring dense investigative evidence into concise, decision-grade intelligence briefs.Nice-to-Have / Strong Advantages:
Proficiency in link-analysis and network visualization toolsHands-on familiarity with geospatial and tracking platforms (MarineTraffic, VesselFinder, FleetMon, Windward, or QGIS).Basic scripting abilities in Python or SQL for web scraping, data transformation, or querying spatio-temporal datasets.Foreign language proficiency (e.g., Russian, Mandarin, Persian, or Arabic) for researching local shipping registries, manifest databases, and regional media sources. Why Join SkyServe?
Direct Operational Impact: Your findings provide concrete intelligence to national security agencies, coast guards, and environmental protection organizations.Cutting-Edge Tooling: Combine traditional investigative OSINT techniques with proprietary satellite computer vision and on-orbit AI detections.High Autonomy: Lead your own investigations, follow evidence threads across international borders, and shape SkyServe’s investigative intelligence standards.
