The Role: Data Center Quality Engineer II

As a Data Center Quality Engineer II at Switch, you will support quality control activities for data center construction projects. You will inspect work, document findings, track corrective actions, and support project readiness before turnover to Operations. You will work within established quality and safety processes while building knowledge of data center systems and commissioning activities. Your work will help project teams identify issues early and complete required quality documentation.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the Data Center Quality Control program at assigned project sites.
  • Perform job walks, audits, and inspections to identify and document quality issues.
  • Track corrective actions and escalate unresolved issues through established processes.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and contractor documentation.
  • Coordinate quality activities with construction teams, contractors, commissioning partners, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Support equipment deliveries, factory witness testing, and vendor visits as assigned.
  • Support Initial Verification Checklists and Pre-Functional Testing with commissioning partners.
  • Maintain inspection records, quality documentation, and project tracking in Cx Alloy.
  • Prepare routine reports on inspections, corrective actions, quality performance, and project status.
  • Support project closeout, commissioning, and turnover activities.
  • Follow NFPA70E requirements, PPE requirements, and site safety procedures when working in live electrical environments.
  • Support third-party quality resources and field teams as needed.
  • Support after-hours or weekend project activities when required.

  • Keeps accurate inspection records and follows corrective actions through completion.
  • Plans assigned work and follows through on project commitments.
  • Works effectively with field teams, contractors, commissioning partners, and internal teams.
  • Raises risks and quality concerns early rather than allowing issues to go unresolved.
  • Follows safety protocols consistently in mission-critical environments.
  • Accepts feedback and applies it to build technical knowledge and improve execution.
  • Keeps project and client requirements in mind when completing quality work.

What You’ll Bring

  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in construction, commissioning, operations, quality control, or a related technical field.
  • Working knowledge of QA/QC processes in construction, data center, or similar technical environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and submittals.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements and safe work practices in electrical environments.
  • Experience using software for reporting, documentation, tracking, or data management.
  • Ability to manage assigned priorities and meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to work on-site and support after-hours or weekend activities when project needs require it.
  • Experience with mechanical or electrical systems in mission-critical or industrial environments is preferred.
  • Familiarity with EPMS, SCADA, or BMS systems is preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field is preferred. Relevant technical training, trade experience, or equivalent field experience may also apply.
