Company Description Tasso is a fast-growing startup that has developed a painless device to collect blood from people for at-home diagnostic testing. Tasso has strong partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, diagnostic testing labs, and healthcare systems that are looking to provide remote ways to access blood data. Tasso was originally founded to find a better way to collect blood instead of a painful fingerstick or time-consuming venous draw and we were originally funded by the NIH and DARPA. Since then, our products have been used in pharmaceutical clinical trials, by Olympians as part of a new virtual anti-doping program, and broadly by hospital systems across the US.

Job Description We are looking for a talented experienced Software Engineering Manager to build next generation blood data solutions. The Tasso Product Team is looking for an experience software engineering manager to help us build an additional layer of utility to Tasso’s existing product offering. The software will interface with labs, patients, and clients to scale our business as well as add a layer of machine learning applications to take personalized healthcare to new places. Due to recent events, the necessity for at-home care has become increasingly important and Tasso’s device is a critical step in diagnosing and monitoring conditions remotely

You will work closely with company leaders from all functions to design and build software solutions that support Tasso’s customers.

In this role, you will:
• Work with Tasso team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology, evaluate technical feasibility, and build distributed software systems. • Actively participate in and contribute to product strategy and business goals. • Recruit, hire, and manage and a software engineering team • Report directly to the VP of Product. • Write high quality distributed system software. • Launch world class customer experiences. • Develop and maintain Tasso’s customer facing and back-end software systems. • Work with Tasso’s clients and customers where integration with 3rd party systems is necessary. • Follow software development best practices. • Work in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high quality software against aggressive schedules.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field .
  • Experience developing software services and an understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability.
  • Experience with a variety of modern programming languages (Java, JavaScript, C/C++) and open-source technologies (Linux, Spring).
  • 7 + years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation must involve: designing and developing large-scale, distributed software applications, tools, systems and services using Java, C#, or C++, and Object Oriented Design.
  • 3+ years as a manager growing and managing software engineering teams and launching software products.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related technical discipline

  • 5+ years of software development experience as a manager.

  • Experience with HIPAA regulations and working with personal health information.

  • Experience developing complex software systems that have successfully been delivered to customers

  • Experience communicating verbally and in writing with users, other technical teams and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs and product strategy

  • A deep understanding of professional software engineering best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing and operations.

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor develop software engineers in all aspects of engineering skill-sets.
