Note: "USLW Maine" is a temporary placeholder name for our new women's soccer team that will begin play in May 2027. The club's permanent name, crest, and identity will be unveiled publicly as part of the 2026 launch process, and this role will play a meaningful part in bringing that brand to life.

Portland's new women's soccer team is looking for a builder. Not someone to manage agencies, spends their days in spreadsheets, or needs a playbook handed to them. A multidisciplinary creative who can help build one of the most ambitious women's soccer clubs in North America from day one.

This role sits at the intersection of storytelling, design, photography, filmmaking, and brand building. One moment you might be photographing a match, the next you're producing a launch campaign, directing a video shoot, editing a player feature, coordinating freelancers, or helping shape the long-term identity of the club.

You'll work directly alongside club leadership and collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders—from supporter groups and community organizations to local nonprofits, players, media members, and corporate partners—to define how this team shows up in the world and bring that vision to life through exceptional execution.

This is a role for someone who is equally comfortable thinking strategically and making things with their own hands.

Reports to: Vice President of Marketing
Annual Base Salary Range: $70,000 to $80,000

Responsibilities

  • Help define and evolve the club's brand, voice, and creative direction.
  • Produce and publish compelling stories across digital, social, email, and matchday channels.
  • Own the capture, editing, and delivery of photo and video content across club channels.
  • Lead shoots from concept through final delivery, including creative direction, filming, photography, editing, motion, and asset management.
  • Create content across photo, video, design, and written formats using Adobe Creative Cloud, including Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects.
  • Build and maintain a scalable visual asset library documenting the club's formation from day one.
  • Lead creative projects from concept through execution.
  • Manage and direct freelancers, photographers, videographers, designers, and other creative contributors.
  • Build content systems and workflows that can scale with the club.
  • Collaborate with players, coaches, supporters, community partners, and staff to uncover meaningful stories.
  • Contribute to campaign strategy, launch moments, merchandise releases, community initiatives, and major club announcements.
  • Help ensure every piece of communication feels unmistakably like our club.
  • Work nights, weekends, and events as necessary throughout the season and launch period.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in creative production, ideally in a sports, start-up, or community-focused organization where you've demonstrated an ability to "wear multiple hats" on a small team. Bonus points if you have experience working in women's soccer!
  • Deeply knowledgeable about soccer and genuinely passionate about the women's game.
  • Experience managing creative teams and/or networks of freelancers.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • A strong storyteller in at least two disciplines—whether that's writing, photography, filmmaking, design, creative direction, or content production.
  • Capable of moving comfortably between strategy and execution.
  • Resourceful, self-directed, and energized by building something new.
  • Able to manage multiple projects while maintaining a high standard of craft.
  • Comfortable leading others while remaining deeply hands-on.
  • Curious about people and naturally skilled at earning trust.
  • Excited by the opportunity to shape the identity of a club from its earliest days.
  • Availability to support and work home matchdays and other major events (often on weekends)

Cultural Fit

  • A builder at heart—energized by creating something meaningful and growing with an ambitious young club.
  • Passionate about sports, storytelling, marketing, and using these mediums to cultivate community.
  • Thrives in collaborative, cross-functional environments where communication, flexibility, and teamwork matter.
  • Comfortable with startup energy and a “no task too small” mentality.
  • Holds a sincere connection to—and active curiosity about—Maine, its people, and its culture.
  • Represents the club through professionalism, empathy, and a commitment to elevating the brand in every interaction.
