Now we’re looking for an exceptional Senior Software Engineer to join our remote team, someone who thrives in high-performance environments, wants to leave a legacy in African Edtech, and is ready to start immediately.

You’re an experienced & innovative technical leader who will play a pivotal role in architecting and developing our platform, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative features that enhance user experience and bring the power of language learning to millions.

Your work will directly enhance user engagement, drive accessibility, and help bridge cultural gaps through cutting-edge technology.

Let’s get to the point of what exactly you’ll be doing at Lingawa.

What you’ll be doing in this role:

• Empower Learners: Build and maintain high-quality features across the frontend (React, TypeScript) and backend (NestJS, TypeScript) to create an intuitive, engaging experience.
• Expand Access: Develop and optimize mobile applications using Flutter, ensuring seamless language learning anytime, anywhere.
• Scale Innovation: Architect and manage cloud deployments on AWS and Google Cloud, making Lingawa’s platform scalable, secure, and efficient.
• Personalize Learning: Integrate machine learning APIs to deliver adaptive learning experiences that cater to individual needs.
• Collaborate for Impact: Work closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to co-create features that drive user success.
• Mentor & Lead: Elevate the team by sharing knowledge, conducting peer reviews, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
• Drive Continuous Improvement: Stay ahead of industry trends and implement best practices to ensure our platform remains at the forefront of language education technology.

Ideally, you have:

• Experience: Minimum of 7+ years post Uni professional software development experience.
• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Frontend Mastery: Advanced Proficiency in React and TypeScript, creating intuitive, high-performance user interfaces.
• Backend Expertise: Extensive experience with NestJS and TypeScript, developing powerful and efficient APIs.
• Mobile Innovation: Hands-on experience with Flutter, crafting seamless mobile-first learning experiences.
• Cloud & DevOps: Strong expertise in AWS and Google Cloud, with a focus on security, scalability, and efficiency.
• AI-Powered Learning: Familiarity with integrating AI-driven technologies for personalized experiences.
• Database Proficiency: Deep knowledge of MongoDB, or other scalable data solutions.
• Problem-Solving Mindset: Analytical and solution-oriented, with a drive to tackle complex challenges.
• Passion & Purpose: A strong belief in the value of preserving African cultures and a passion for economically empowering young people across the continent.

The hiring process for this role:

• Complete the technical assessment on Test Gorilla- 1 hour maximum.
• 30 minute First interview with the CTO.
• 1 hour Technical interview.
• 1 hour Second interview with the CEO+COO at Lingawa.
• Feedback / Reference checks and offer extension.
