The Position & You:

As a Kiswahili Language Associate, you’ll create delightful, effective learning experiences across our app, live classes, and social channels. You’ll design curricula, produce engaging content, and help recruit and coach tutors, so learners progress faster and fall in love with Kiswahili Sanifu.

What you’ll be doing in this role:

Curriculum & Pedagogy: Design and continuously improve Kiswahili courses aligned to clear learning outcomes (phonology → vocabulary → grammar → conversation).

  • Translate pedagogy into bite-sized lessons, drills, and assessments suitable for mobile learning.

Content Production: Draft scripts and record high-quality audio/video for app lessons and conversation practice.

  • Create culturally grounded examples and dialogues reflecting Kenyan contexts.
  • QA content for clarity, accuracy, tone, and pronunciation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Tutor Growth to help screen, onboard, and coach tutors; run micro-teach sessions and share best-practice techniques.

  • Work with Marketing to co-create short, engaging social clips and provide quick, accurate translations.

AI & Data (Nice to have): Review and annotate language data to support Voice AI improvements.

  • Give structured feedback from learner/tutor insights to improve content and features.

What you'll bring:

Must-haves:

  • Native-level fluency in Kiswahili with strong command of Kiswahili Sanifu.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching Kiswahili or developing Kiswahili learning content.
  • Strong grasp of grammar concepts and the ability to explain them simply.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with high attention to detail.
  • Laptop + reliable high-speed internet; strong digital literacy (Docs/Sheets/Slides).

Nice to haves:

  • Experience in children’s content, edtech, or a high-growth startup.
  • Content creation, performance, or basic editing (e.g., Canva, Powerpoint)
  • Degree in Languages/Linguistics/Education (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Native-level fluency in additional African languages.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: KSh 35,000+ per month (commensurate with experience)
  • Benefits: Data allowance, paid time off, and access to courses/workshops/certifications

  • Full-time, remote (Africa-based)
  • Part-time may be considered
