About the Company

Our hiring partner is a rapidly growing Canadian fintech focused on making financial operations simpler and more efficient for businesses.

Its platform brings together modern financial services and software to help companies manage spending, expenses, payments, and cash more effectively. The company has built a strong presence in the Canadian market and continues to invest heavily in its product and engineering organization.

The team is entrepreneurial, collaborative, and highly ownership-driven. Engineers are encouraged to bring ideas forward, challenge assumptions, and have a meaningful voice in technical and product decisions.

The company values autonomy, transparency, continuous feedback, and a practical approach to solving problems. Rather than relying heavily on hierarchy, teams are given clear ownership and the freedom to make decisions close to the work.

About the Role

This position sits within a product-focused engineering team responsible for building and improving customer-facing experiences used by businesses every day.

You'll work across the stack, contributing to backend services, frontend experiences, and APIs while partnering closely with Product and Design. Your work will directly influence how customers manage important financial workflows.

The company is open to hiring at different levels depending on experience, technical scope, judgment, and demonstrated impact. The level will be determined during the interview process rather than based solely on title or years of experience.

This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys product development, end-to-end ownership, and working in an environment where engineers have significant autonomy.

What You'll Do

  • Build and improve end-to-end product features across the frontend, backend, and APIs.
  • Work closely with Product and Design to create intuitive, reliable user experiences.
  • Turn customer and business needs into practical technical solutions.
  • Make thoughtful trade-offs between delivery speed, quality, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Own features after launch, including monitoring, iteration, reliability, and ongoing improvements.
  • Contribute to engineering standards, tooling, and practices that improve the broader team.
  • Work as part of a small, empowered team with clear responsibility for a specific area of the product.
What Success Looks Like

Within your first 6–12 months, you'll be expected to:

  • Deliver meaningful features that create measurable value for customers.
  • Improve the usability, reliability, or clarity of important product workflows.
  • Take ownership of a significant area of the product and operate independently.
  • Build strong working relationships with Product, Design, and Engineering.
  • Demonstrate sound technical judgment and raise the quality of execution within your team.
What We're Looking For

  • Experience developing full-stack product features in a modern web environment.
  • Comfortable working across backend, frontend, and API layers, with deeper expertise in one or more areas.
  • Strong product mindset and genuine interest in understanding the customer problem behind the technology.
  • Experience taking ownership of production features from development through ongoing improvement.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make pragmatic technical decisions.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to continuously develop your technical skills.
Nice to have:

  • Experience with Python and Django.
  • Experience with TypeScript and React.
  • Experience working with AWS or similar cloud infrastructure.
  • Background in fintech, payments, financial software, or other highly regulated/product-critical environments.
How the Company Hires

The company places significant value on curiosity, ownership, character, and the ability to learn and grow.

Titles and previous levels are less important than the scope of work you've taken on and the impact you've had. As you grow into the role, there will be opportunities to take on broader technical and product ownership.

Why Join

  • Join a fast-growing Canadian fintech with an ambitious product roadmap.
  • Have meaningful ownership in a high-autonomy engineering environment.
  • Work closely with Product, Design, and Engineering rather than operating in silos.
  • Help build products that solve real financial challenges for businesses.
  • Competitive compensation, equity opportunities, and benefits.
  • Join a collaborative, high-trust team that values both strong execution and continuous learning.
In Summary

This is an opportunity for a full-stack engineer who enjoys building products, understanding customer problems, and taking ownership from idea through production.

If you're curious, pragmatic, and motivated by having a tangible impact on what you build, our hiring partner would be interested in meeting you.

The company is committed to creating an inclusive and accessible hiring process. Accommodations are available throughout the recruitment process and can be discussed with the hiring team.
