Freight forwarding is a $200B+ industry you might not know about, but it’s the backbone of the global economy, ensuring goods move seamlessly around the world. Freight forwarders—like DHL, FedEx, and UPS—act as “travel agents” for goods, managing the complex operations that keep supply chains running.

Surprisingly, this critical industry remains largely untouched by modern software, with many processes still managed manually or through outdated systems. The eco-system is so fragile that one missed email can disrupt an entire shipment, leading to delays, poor service, and financial losses.

At Raft, we’re building an AI platform to automate freight operations. From auditing invoices and preparing customs filings to syncing information across systems, we empower operators to work more efficiently and accurately. The impact? Faster service, fewer errors, and more time for businesses to focus on growth and customer service.

We’re fortunate to have the support of top investors who are just as passionate as we do about transforming the industry, including Eight Roads (Alibaba, Spendesk, Toast), Bessemer Venture Partners (LinkedIn, Twilio, Shopify), Episode 1 (Zoopla, Betfair, Shazam), and Dynamo Ventures (Sennder, Stord, Gatik).

✨ Start your design career with real impact

At Raft, we’re building tools that power the global movement of goods — and we believe design is key to shaping that future. Our AI-powered platform helps freight forwarders and customs brokers work more efficiently, and our products are used for hours every single day by the people who keep supply chains running. That means every design decision you make has a direct impact on how real people experience their work.

We’re looking for a Product Designer early in their career to join our growing design team. You don’t need years of experience — what matters most is that you have the fundamentals, a proactive mindset, and the curiosity to keep learning. You’ll work on real features end-to-end, from discovery to final UI, with mentorship and guidance from senior designers who are eager to share their knowledge. It’s a rare opportunity to grow fast, learn the ins and outs of B2B SaaS, and see your work make a difference.

🛠️ What you’ll be doing

  • Work on real product features end-to-end: from research and user journeys through to workflows, prototypes, and polished UI.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and other designers to bring your ideas to life.
  • Learn by doing: you’ll take on real responsibilities that directly shape our product and customer experience.
  • Get hands-on exposure to B2B SaaS design — from complex workflows to enterprise-scale problems.
  • Grow with mentorship: our senior designers will support you, give feedback, and help you develop your craft.

Experiment with AI: we’re actively exploring AI tools and want designers who are curious about their potential.

✅ You should apply if you...

  • Have a solid foundation in design (e.g. university degree, bootcamp, or part-time courses).
  • May be a career switcher — with strong transferable skills from another path, and now ready to focus on design.
  • Are confident using Figma as your primary design tool from day one — we won’t be teaching the basics.
  • Are eager to learn, proactive, and not afraid to ask questions.
  • Are curious about AI and excited by its potential to transform how we work.
  • Want to work in a collaborative, supportive team that values craft and mentorship.
  • Are looking for a chance to grow into a well-rounded product designer by working on real-world problems.

🚫 This role might not be for you if...

  • You’re only interested in visual polish and not the full design process.
  • You’re looking for a role where you just follow instructions — this role will challenge you to take initiative and be proactive.
  • You want to focus only on consumer apps or marketing design — this role is all about complex desktop B2B SaaS.

💬 What’s it like working here?
  • You’ll be part of a close-knit product and design team based in London. We operate hybrid, with a mix of in-person collaboration and flexibility. The team often takes 1:1s walking along the river or heading to the Tate Modern — we take inspiration seriously (and steps too).
    • Office near London Bridge
    • Free breakfast every day, team lunch on Tuesdays
    • Health insurance (includes vision & dental)
    • Flexible hybrid working
    • Exploring new AI tools and workflows
    • Supportive, international, and curious team

📝 What to expect from the interview process

  1. Intro chat with our recruiter – A quick conversation to learn more about you and answer any questions you might have.
  2. Portfolio presentation – Show us your past work, course projects, or even personal design explorations. We care about your process, not just polished outputs.
  3. Take-home design exercise + presentation – Work through a real problem and present your thinking to the team.
  4. Leadership interview – A conversation with one of our senior leaders to talk through vision, collaboration, and growth.
  5. Meet the team (in person, if possible) – A visit to the office to connect with your potential teammates and manager. We’ll use this time to explore culture fit, motivation, and your career goals.

We’ll keep you informed every step of the way — and aim to move quickly while being respectful of your time.

If this sounds like the kind of opportunity you’ve been waiting for, we’d love to hear from you.
