The Senior Data Architect will be responsible for designing and maintaining the enterprise data warehouse for various projects, while also providing ongoing support for activities that impact all enterprise databases. They will work within a high-performing team to design, build, optimize, and maintain innovative solutions on Microsoft Azure's Data Platform, using cutting-edge cloud services. Additionally, the incumbent will be accountable for ensuring data integrity, enabling effective, accurate, and timely generation of all enterprise reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Participating in collaborative sessions with business units to gather and comprehend their data and reporting needs.
- Contributing to critical data architecture and design decisions for modernizing data platforms and pipelines.
- Evaluating technical requirements, gauging compatibility, and offering appropriate Cloud solution recommendations.
- Creating Proof of Concepts (POCs) to validate and shape proposed solutions for data migration.
- Formulating and validating end-to-end processes for data intake, transformation, cleansing, delivery, quality, and timeliness.
- Exploring innovative tools and opportunities to revamp existing data infrastructure for enhanced scalability and performance.
- Aiding in tackling technical data-related challenges and conducting root-cause analysis.
- Documenting policies, and best practices, and maintaining technical documentation for tools, deployment, and procedures.
- Conceiving, designing, and developing analytical solutions as needed.
- Designing and scripting automated SQL Jobs for various functions.
- Ensuring the presence and currency of documentation for all reporting and associated processes.
- Creating and implementing data analyses, data collection systems, and other strategies to enhance efficiency and quality, including data acquisition from diverse sources
- Contributing insights and assistance in the adoption of Cloud-based data and analytics.
- Proposing and implementing innovative approaches to address business and technical challenges in the data and analytics field.
- Collaborating with the broader team to exchange knowledge, solutions, and practices for a more consistent and robust development approach.
What You'll Need to Be Successful
- Possession of a bachelor's degree or an equivalent in Computer Science or Engineering.
- A track record of at least 6 years in Data Engineering within a Cloud Data Warehouse environment, specifically in Azure.
- A minimum of 6 years of hands-on development experience in SQL.
- Demonstrated expertise in crafting, constructing, and validating data pipelines that integrate data from diverse sources into a centralized data platform or Enterprise Data Warehouse.
- Proficiency in dealing with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
- Competency in data transformation methodologies, including ETL, ELT, data modelling, and data warehousing.
- The ability to recognize and delineate data gaps and challenges when engaged in data migration efforts during system implementations.
- Preferably, experience in Python and Cloud Shell.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional multitasking and organizational abilities.
- Outstanding problem-solving and analytical thinking capabilities.
