Vita Inclinata is looking for an experienced Director of Production to lead our manufacturing teams in Denver, CO and Ashland, OR. As the Director of Production, you will be responsible for overseeing the manufacturing processes, driving production efficiency, increasing production capacity and capability, managing the production workforce, managing and enforcing facility safety programs and ensuring the highest quality outputs are delivered and standards are maintained.

The Director of Production oversees multiple production teams and a variety of supporting roles within these teams, enacting and supporting safety, quality, cost reduction, process improvements, and production goals. Provides training and coaching of the employees within the department, and other duties as assigned. This position is responsible for partnering with leaders from Sales, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, HR, and Accounting and Finance to meet business objectives and delivery deadlines.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Oversee the entire production process, from planning to execution and final delivery.
  • Manage the production staff, including hiring, onboarding, training, mentoring, and providing performance evaluations for production managers and staff.
  • Develop and manage production budgets, track expenses and ensure cost-effective production.
  • Oversee scheduling and resource management, leading the creation and management of production schedules, resource allocation, and ensuring efficient use of time and materials.
  • Implement and maintain quality standards, monitor production performance, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure that all production activities adhere to safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Participate in strategic planning meetings, develop production strategies, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Communicate production goals, updates, and issues to relevant stakeholders, including other departments and senior management.
  • Address production-related issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement solutions to ensure smooth operations.
  • Prepare reports, maintain production documentation, and track key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Implement and maintain Standard Work Instructions (SWIs) to ensure consistent and efficient assembly processes.
  • Liaise with other departments, such as Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality and Customer Service to coordinate activities and resolve any production-related issues.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Implement manufacturing best practices at both operational sites.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises the ARS production manager (Ashland, OR), Vita Production Supervisor (Denver, CO), Master Production Scheduler, Production Support/Documentation Specialist, and the Manufacturing Engineering function. Carries out Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, selecting, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field like production management, industrial engineering, or a related area is required.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in production management or a related field is essential.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of production processes, quality control, 5S and safety standards is essential.
  • Experience implementing LEAN Six Sigma in an operational environment is a plus.
  • High-tech industrial manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience managing within OSHA/NIOSH safety regulations. OSHA certifications preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to effectively manage geographically separate production staff simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership skills to guide teams, motivate staff, and ensure efficient operations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills which are vital for conveying instructions, providing feedback, and collaborating with various stakeholders.
  • Must be able to identify and resolve production issues, manage risks, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are needed to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent attention to detail is crucial for maintaining quality standards and ensuring that production processes run smoothly.

Computer Skills

  • Demonstrated experienced working with a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform to manage production operations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Compensation

In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the compensation for this role is $85,000 - $100,000 per year; however, Vita Inclinata Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
