Senior Software Engineer – Generative Design Platform | Location: Sydney + Hybrid/Remote

The Role:

This is a full-time hybrid role for a senior software engineer at VXB Aerospace located in the Greater Sydney Area with flexibility for remote work.

As a senior software engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s software strategy. You will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable solutions for computational design and integrating aerospace-specific optimization tools. You will have a high degree of technical autonomy, and be instrumental in the hiring and growth of the software team.

Your Responsibilities:

• Lead the technical development of a generative design platform for space hardware.
• Design and implement scalable software architectures that support computationally intensive applications.
• Work closely with aerospace engineers and physicists to integrate generative design, topology optimization, and simulation tools.
• Oversee product deployment, managing releases and updates.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Optimize algorithm performance for large-scale computational design tasks.
• Balance hands-on coding with strategic decision-making.
• Contribute to hiring, team growth, and establishing best practices for software development.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering
• Experience leading or mentoring a software development team.
• Strong programming skills in Python and C++.
• Knowledge of parallel computing, GPU acceleration (CUDA, OpenCL), or high-performance computing techniques.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Passion for aerospace, computational design, and pushing the boundaries of engineering innovation.

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with numerical methods, physics-based simulations, generative and/or topology optimization.
• Experience working in a startup or small-team environment.
• Expertise in software architecture, cloud computing (AWS, GCP, or Azure), and CI/CD pipelines.
