Founding Engineer (3D, Remote)
Waldek Technologies
About the role:
We're seeking a highly skilled 3D Graphics Engineer to join our founding team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, optimizing various 3D radiance field rendering/editing algorithms, and deploying them on the web. This role requires deep technical expertise, a passion for working with 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS), and a strong startup mentality.
Our Gauzilla Pro is a fully web-based, AI-powered, and no-code editor/viewer for 3D/4D digital twins. It utilizes WebGL and high-performance & multi-threaded WebAssembly (WASM) modules for rendering & editing 3DGS in real time on the web. As a 3D Graphics Engineer focused on product values, you’ll be helping us deliver innovative 3D/4D features on Gauzilla Pro. This is a unique opportunity where you'll influence strategic product/infrastructure decisions as we bridge the gap between 3DGS and the delightful experience our users have come to expect.
Key responsibilities:
- Work closely with the strongly hands-on CTO to build upon the foundation of our current WebGL & WebAssembly-based engine (written in Rust) to enhance its functionality and performance, or build a new one from scratch using WebGPU.
- Research and develop new 3D/4D Gaussian Splatting rendering & editing features, improve existing ones based on our existing toolchain, and identify performance bottlenecks to optimize execution efficiencies.
- Contribute to open-source software projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in Rust/C++ for high-performance, multi-threaded & real-time systems (eg. 3D engine).
- 3+ years of experience in at least one major 3D graphics API (OpenGL/WebGL, Vulcan, WebGPU).
- Strong understanding of math & physics for 3D graphics.
- Strong understanding of 3D Gaussian Splatting forward rendering on the GPU.
We strongly encourage candidates of all different backgrounds to apply. We believe that our work is stronger with a variety of perspectives.
