Natural Building Systems addresses urgent environmental and social challenges through the development of a regenerative, modular construction system—ADEPT®—built around industrial hemp and other bio-based materials. The construction sector contributes nearly 10% of global carbon emissions, with limited progress on reducing embodied carbon. Conventional methods are resource-intensive, wasteful, and often harmful to human health.

Our system replaces carbon-intensive materials with renewable, non-toxic alternatives, creating carbon-negative, high-performance buildings designed for disassembly and re-use. Each house built using ADEPT® can remove over 20 tonnes of CO₂, and our panels are tracked via digital product passports and RFID tags, unlocking future carbon credit markets.

We also address the UK housing crisis by enabling faster, decentralised delivery of homes via licensed regional factories—each capable of producing up to 200 homes per year, stimulating local economies and rural supply chains. By generating new revenue streams for UK farmers, especially through hemp cultivation, we bridge the gap between agriculture and construction, promoting biodiversity and more sustainable land use.

Role (Volunteer): Fundraising and Franchise Strategy Support.

Role Description: Assist with strategy for upcoming crowdfunding campaign to finance our pilot production facility in the east of england UK as well as supporting on strategy for international funding collaborations and research proposals to support international expansion through a licensing model. Experience with crowdfunding or collective ownership models and background in manufacturing and/or sustainable construction would be beneficial but is not essential.

Time Commitment: Volunteer 2-3 hours per week for 1-2 months remotely 💻
