Fornax makes heat pumps radically more affordable for homeowners - they save money on their utility bills, get more comfortable homes and we save the planet.

Every heat pump we install has a 24 tonne carbon reduction impact (by replacing a fossil fuel boiler).

Our product lets average homeowners and tenants upgrade their heating, making their homes warmer and their fuel bills lower; right now, only rich people can afford to install heat pumps. This can be especially impactful in rental housing, letting landlords upgrade properties economically and preventing mould and respiratory issues caused by poor existing heating and ventilation.

Fornax does 3 things to make heat pumps affordable for homeowners:

(1) Our tech reduces the fundamental cost of an installation from the average £13k to ~£10-11k, by making it quicker and easier for installers to get a heat pump in a home;

(2) Our tech can review heat pump system designs, improve them and price the risk of funding that system's installation in a specific home for a specific customer. That let's us create a unique lease product that spreads the cost out for homeowners for the lowest monthly payment (from £60/month) with servicing and full breakdown cover included;

(3) We collect and review data from our heat pump systems to make them work better and cost even less over time. This also let's us offer customers products like batteries and solar as a "bolt on" that can save them more money in the future!

Role (Volunteer): General Counsel.

Role Description: We're looking for legal expertise to support across our business. That could be reviewing / improving our contracts with customers or our partner installers; advising on regulatory matters; or assisting with product design.

We do work with external counsel and you role could involve managing their workflows too.

This is a great opportunity to bring corporate law experience to a very innovative sector and fast-moving startup. As a business that blends consumer lending with energy infrastructure, legal and compliance work is especially critical to what we do and our momentum. You'll have real impact!

Time Commitment: Volunteer 2-3 hours per week for 3-5 months remotely 💻
