Carbon markets are beset by a range of problems from design to execution, both real and perceived, resulting in exploitation and marginalisation of indigenous guardians, excessively high barriers to entry, poor conservation outcomes and reputational headaches for companies. In turn this slows demand and chokes funding to the world’s most precious and biodiverse ecosystems.
1) Many deserving nature-based projects are barred entry, because they are not carbon centric, or the science on carbon is unclear e.g. coral restoration.
2) SIDS’s are often barred entry from mainstream carbon markets due to a lack of scale.
3) With a focus on demonstrating uplift/additionality of carbon, intact, pristine nature where additionality is harder to prove is grossly undervalued.
4) The design of mainstream carbon markets globally disincentivises governments from putting in place legal protections for nature.
Native Squares are real, tangible, precious 3m2 areas of nature which are being restored or protected and can be seen on a map:
Holistic: Our proprietary ABC methodology goes beyond carbon to assess the true value of nature, including carbon, biodiversity and community impact assessments and tracks this impact transparently via your dashboard. This allows companies to address three ESG metrics via a single product.
Transparent: See every Square you protect on our map. This allows you not only to monitor your impact but to showcase it to key stakeholders including employees, clients and investors.
Fair: We remove barriers to entry and put indigenous communities at the heart of solution. In the case of our first project they benefit from up to 90% of the sale price.
Role (Volunteer): Sales Executive.
Role Description: We need someone to professionalise and streamline our sales pipeline. We have a team member managing this but we need an extra pair of hands manages the pipeline, and also managing a team of interns to pitch the business correctly, prospect leads, make cold calls, ensure they hit targets etc.
Time Commitment: Volunteer 4-6 hours per week for 6+ months remotely 💻
