We Make Change
Support a startup helping students to learn science 🔬
SciQuiry is an AI-powered adaptive science platform that personalizes learning for every student while helping teachers identify struggling students early.
Education faces a global crisis with a shortage of 69 million K-12 teachers, particularly in STEM subjects where 45% of US schools struggle to fill teaching positions. This shortage creates an early warning gap where struggling students remain unidentified until they've fallen significantly behind in their academic journey. Science teachers often manage 24+ students with insufficient time for personalized support and early intervention. These challenges disproportionately affect underserved communities and displaced populations, where educational continuity is frequently disrupted during crises, widening achievement gaps in critical STEM subjects and limiting future opportunities.
SciQuiry addresses these challenges through an AI-powered adaptive science learning platform that serves both students and educators. Our technology personalizes learning for each student with dynamically adjusted questions based on performance, while simultaneously providing teachers with real-time insights to identify struggling students early. The platform automates routine assessment tasks, giving educators more time for meaningful instruction and targeted support. For refugee and displaced communities, our "Science Without Borders" initiative provides free platform access with minimal technology requirements to ensure educational continuity regardless of location or circumstances.
Role (Volunteer): Science Content Developer.
Role Description: We are creating the "Duolingo for K-12 science" - an adaptive learning platform that personalizes science education for every student. While we have implemented AI in our backend to generate questions, we need passionate science enthusiasts who have a deep understanding of science topics.
You will help develop high-quality questions across physics, chemistry, biology, and earth sciences for grades K-12. We are looking for someone who can think like a private tutor, creating scaffolding adaptive questions that gradually build understanding based on student responses.
Responsibilities include:
- Proofread the AI-generated explanations that break down complex concepts for young learners
- Reviewing AI-generated content (cool fact and hint) for accuracy and educational value
This role is perfect for educators, science graduates, or professionals passionate about making science education accessible to all students, including refugee and underserved communities.
Time Commitment: Volunteer 4-6 hours per week for 3-5 months remotely 💻
