Volunteer for a startup building sustainable, community-driven travel! ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ”๏ธ

Rideshare Group connects like-minded travelers via community-specific, sustainable carpooling platforms to make remote travel affordable, efficient, and trustworthy.

The Challenge: Over 70% of car journeys in the EU and UK are single-occupancy, driving up carbon emissions and individual expenses during a time of rising fuel costs and escalating climate concerns. This problem is compounded when traveling to remote destinations like mountains, music festivals, or surf spots, which public transportation rarely reaches. Faced with few alternatives, travelers are often forced to drive alone because they lack trust in generic, anonymous carpooling options, leading to widespread safety concerns and an incredibly inefficient use of vehicles.

The Solution: Rideshare Group tackles this environmental and social bottleneck by developing a family of community-specific carpooling platforms tailored to connect like-minded travelers sharing the same destinations. By shifting from open, anonymous networks to trusted, identity-aligned communities, the platform overcomes traditional safety anxieties and builds the necessary trust for users to share rides confidently. This approach provides a seamless, sustainable alternative to driving alone, unlocking affordable access to remote destinations while directly reducing single-occupancy travel and its associated carbon footprint.

Role (Volunteer, unpaid): Digital Design Allrounder

Role Description: We're looking for a digital design allrounder to help us across product, marketing, and partnerships as we launch and extend the platform into football, festivals, and surf.

The context

Solo founder, pre-launch, with a feature-complete app built on a unified codebase that powers a family of community-specific carpool platforms. The brand system is locked, the design tokens live in the repo, and the working tools are Figma, Claude Code, and Git.

We need a designer who can flex across whatever the week demands rather than specialise in one corner.

What you'd be doing

  • Graphic design โ€” social media tiles, marketing collateral, partnership and grant decks
  • UX/UI design โ€” applying and extending the existing design system across the app and onboarding experience
  • Working in Figma, comfortable with Claude Code and Git, happy to commit alongside the founder

Who we're looking for

  • Strong portfolio across both visual/brand work and product/UI work
  • Fluent in Figma day-to-day
  • Familiar with Claude Code and Git, or willing to learn fast
  • Range over depth โ€” this is an allrounder role, not a specialist one
  • Bonus: skier, footballer, festival-goer, surfer โ€” but not required

Time commitment

4โ€“8 hours/week, recurring, with an initial 6-month commitment ideal. Weekly check-in with the founder, async the rest.

Why this role matters

You'll work directly with the founder, no agency layer or revision loops. The work ships to real users on real platforms with a real partnership story behind it. What you build for Mountain becomes the design playbook for three more verticals to come.

Time Commitment: Volunteer 7-9 hours per week for 6+ months remotely ๐Ÿ’ป
