Lab Operations Manager
Zeno is seeking a Lab Operations Manager at our Seattle, WA facility to ensure a safe operation and compliance with all local and state regulations.
• Purchase, receive, and maintain consumable and chemical inventories.
• Develop and manage other EH&S functions, (e.g. Industrial hygiene, construction safety, environmental, ergonomics, electrical safety, equipment safety)
• Support management of change activities for in-house procedures/production activities
• Assist with field-work. Participate with pre-job task planning and verification of controls/safeguards before starting work
• Facilitate incident investigations using a learning approach, and ensure preventative actions address root causes.
• Participate in Safety Walkdowns, inspections, corrective actions, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), procedure development and adherence, signage (HazCom), LOTO, safe work permits
• Develop and maintain Safety trainings, covering WA/Seattle Requirements, Chemical hygiene plan, hazardous waste collection
• Develop New Employee Safety Checklists, train new employees on lab processes, coach employees on best-practice environmental, health, and safety behavior
• Mange/Assist with management of contractors for improvement of Zeno facilities
• Serve as the primary interface with IT, Building Maintenance, Building Construction
Key Qualifications and Skills
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preference for technical degree programs
• 5+ years of experience working in a health and safety role with strong preference given to manufacturing, nuclear, biotech, chemical operations or similar environments. Preferred experience in clean energy
• Experience with interfacing with local, state or federal regulatory officials (e.g., OSHA inspectors, environmental regulators, local AHJs)
• Experience building and executing technical health and safety programs, including worker participation, management support, and program assessment
• Strong writing, presentation and communication skills
• Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical capabilities
• Knowledge of business management principles, practices, and procedures
• Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures
Job Functions
• Motor Abilities: Sitting/standing for extended periods, gripping, fine motor control (hands)
• Physical requirements: Ability to safely lift up to 15 pounds
• Special Senses: Visual and audio
• Work Conditions: Typing, standing/sitting working environment of >8 hr/day
• Travel: Travel may be required, 0-5%
• Location: Hybrid remote in Seattle, WA. In-office at least 3-4 days each week.
Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated salary band for this position is $90,000-$130,000. The final job level and compensation will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, years of relevant experience, skills, qualifications, certifications, and other business considerations.
