About You and The Role

As Engineering Tools Administrator at Zipline, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our suite of engineering tools. This position involves both technical implementation and vendor relationship management, ensuring that our engineering teams have the necessary tools to excel in their roles. You will collaborate closely with engineering leadership to plan for headcount growth and establish standards of use to ensure seamless workflows across teams.

What You'll Do

  • Manage the technical implementation and administration of various engineering tools used by our hardware teams, including PCBA design tools, CAD software, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools, and Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD) tools
  • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness and relevance of existing tools and propose improvements or replacements when necessary
  • Foster strong relationships with tool vendors to stay informed about updates, new features, and support options
  • Collaborate with vendors to resolve technical issues, optimize tool performance, and negotiate licensing agreements
  • Work closely with engineering leadership to anticipate the tools and resources required for headcount growth within the hardware teams
  • Assist in budgeting and resource allocation for engineering tools and software licenses.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand their specific tool needs and ensure that the tools in use align with their requirements
  • Identify opportunities for integration between different tools to streamline workflows and enhance productivity
  • Establish and maintain standards for tool usage to ensure consistent workflows and best practices across hardware engineering teams
  • Provide training and documentation to support adherence to these standards
  • When needed, implement scripting or other forms of automation to help improve workflows

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent practical experience
  • Proven experience in managing engineering-centric tools, particularly for hardware teams
  • Familiarity with hardware development lifecycle
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Some software engineering and/or scripting experience
  • Experience working in Windows, Linux, and MacOS environments
  • Experience with Siemens NX, Siemens SimCenter, NASTRAN, Siemens Star-CCM+, Altium 365, GitHub Enterprise, or Aras is a plus
  • Experience working in a hybrid environment consisting of both on-premise and cloud infrastructure is a plus

What Else You Need to Know

The starting cash range for this role is $135,000 - $175,000. Please note that this is a target, starting cash range for a candidate who meets the minimum qualifications for this role. The final cash pay for this role will depend on a variety of factors, including a specific candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, working location, and projected impact. The total compensation package for this role may also include: equity compensation; discretionary annual or performance bonuses; sales incentives; benefits such as medical, dental and vision insurance; paid time off; and more.
