We are growing our People Operations team, dedicated to delivering personalized partnership to our most valued asset: our employees. We are looking for a seasoned Global Mobility & Immigration Specialist to manage the U.S. immigration lifecycle for all new hires and foreign national employees as well as to support our US and Global employees as they travel around the world.
You will serve as a vital strategic advisor to stakeholders, leads, people and leadership teams to provide insight and guidance across the immigration and mobility landscape to bolster Zipline's growth and operational objectives.
You will be entrusted with highly sensitive information and are expected to exercise the utmost discretion while supporting and collaborating with cross-functional partners.
What You'll Do
- The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of advising clients on complex immigration matters, including non-immigrant visas and permanent residency. They will also be able to provide strategic guidance on how to optimize immigration processes and procedures to meet business needs
- Provide advice and strategic direction to employees, managers, HR and other stakeholders regarding immigration cases
- Partner closely with the recruiting team to assess feasibility of new hire immigration sponsorship and advise recruiting partners on critical steps and timelines to start for new hires and employee transfers
- Work closely with our legal team on export control oversight
- Create and run reports and dashboards and contribute to the monitoring and maintenance of employees' immigration statuses, including monitoring expiration dates, filing dates to ensure regulatory compliance
- Establish strong relationships with our external vendors including our immigration firm and corporate housing vendors, and establish government connections
- Develop educational townhalls addressing employee needs; examples: H-1B lottery 101, International Travel, New Administration Legislation etc.
- Consider existing FN population, current administration policies, and company growth plans to foresee future pain points and partner with key stakeholders to pitch forward thinking solutions
- Use your deep domain expertise, benchmarking data, and knowledge of the immigration legislation to review our existing immigration policies and update them accordingly
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and program health
- Support all current employee immigration needs from kicking off extensions, to assessing what long term paths are available to residency, to travel advisory
- Communicate updates and timelines frequently with employees
- Support company wide business travel visitor visas from B-1’s to Schengen Visa applications
- Advisor on all international hiring outside of existing entities; this will include EOR management (deel)
What You'll Bring
- Minimum of 5+ years in overall Global Mobility and Immigration experience consisting of:
- 5+ years of experience in U.S. and global immigration including corporate immigration experience with NIV [L-1A/B, H-1B, TN, E-3, J-1, O-1, F-1/J-1/L-1 conversion to H-1B] and IV matters [PERM - including MM, I-140, OR, etc.]
- 2+ years of experience with global mobility
- Experience in global business taxation
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Providing strategic guidance on how to optimize immigration processes and procedures to meet business needs
- Experience should come from in house corporate setting or immigration firm experience
- Experience required in corporate immigration U.S. inbound and Global Visas (US, EMEA, APAC, etc.).
- Experience working in a role that requires a high degree of confidentiality
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Demonstrated strong teamwork and collaborative skills working in a dynamic and changing multinational organization
- Having a penchant for developing user friendly documentation making employees' lives easier
- Incredibly responsive and empathetic
- Strong organizational skills and proven ability to track and deliver across competing priorities.
