End Of Line Quality Technician [Contract]
Zipline
About Zipline
About the Role
As a Quality Technician on our System End-of-Line (EOL) Test team, you’ll be part of the team owning the final validation of every Zipline vehicle—both our primary aircraft and delivery droid. You’ll execute end of line test cycles on complex, semi-automated stations, diagnose failures across hardware, software, and test fixtures, swap out nonconforming components, and drive initiatives to accelerate throughput without sacrificing accuracy. This is a hands-on role on the manufacturing floor, blending scripting, CLI troubleshooting, mechanical assembly, and deep electrical know-how to output a flight-ready fleet.
What You’ll Do
- Run full EOL test protocols on Zipline aircraft and delivery droids, following and refining procedures and scripts
- Troubleshoot test-station issues via command-line interfaces and custom Python scripts
- Diagnose failures originating from vehicle hardware, embedded software, or test-equipment faults
- Swap non-conforming parts on and off vehicles per documented procedures to restore conformity
- Perform mechanical assembly and reassembly of components, documenting every step and change
- Log detailed findings and test data in our quality-management system, ensuring clear traceability of every result
- Partner with EOL Test Engineering to debug root causes, implement corrective actions, and iterate test-station software
- Lead projects to reduce EOL cycle times: identify bottlenecks, prototype automation improvements, and measure impact
- Maintain, produce, and calibrate test-station hardware: power systems, sensors, actuators, and networked test rigs
What You’ll Bring
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing test, quality engineering, or field service
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills: power rails, sensors, wiring, network interfaces, and multimeter proficiency
- Solid mechanical assembly skills: able to disassemble, swap, and reassemble precision components per procedure
- Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly guides, and software logs to isolate complex failures
- Excellent documentation habits: clear, concise test reports, assembly logs, and troubleshooting guides
- Persistence to run multi-hour, semi-automated test cycles and see ambiguous issues through to resolution
- Collaborative mindset: effective communicator who can interface with EOL engineers, Production, and Ops
- Continuous-improvement orientation: enthusiasm for reducing test time and raising test reliability
- Proficiency with agile software such as Jira and ERP systems such as ODOO desired
- Proficiency with Linux/macOS CLI, shell scripting, and Python for test-automation tasks desirable but not required
Other Requirements
- Ability to lift and move up to 30 lbs and stand for extended periods during inspection runs
- Willingness to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to clean‑room or lab protocols when required
- Flexibility to support multiple shift schedules or overtime during high‑volume production periods
