About Zipline
About The Role
We will count on you to own Zipline's transportation logistics operations, ensuring that every global team has the hardware and materials they need to do their life-saving work. Your responsibilities will include origin management from global suppliers, destination management at the production facility and origin management for shipments originating at the production facility. As a key member of the global logistics team, you will work closely with Zipline’s manufacturing, engineering, and operations teams and ensure on-time and efficient delivery across the company.
What You'll Do
- Global Logistics Strategy - Collaborate with the broader logistics team to determine which carrier(s), brokers, and schedules are appropriate for Zipline from an operational efficiency and pricing perspective. Take an active role in the standardization and creation of the Logistics department procedures and process. This will require a thorough review and analysis of current procedures, creation of unwritten procedures and rationalization of such procedures.
- Route and Network Planning - Determining optimal routing, mode selection, and load planning with the overall goal of reducing freight spend.
- Transportation Management System Integration - Integrating transportation management information from Carrier TMS into Zipline's ERP system as a proxy for creation of an in-house TMS or procurement of an off-the-shelf TMS.
- Logistics Monitoring and Execution - Active in planning and timely execution of inventory replenishments, reverse logistics, and management and coordination of transportation inbound from suppliers.
- Trade and Compliance - Maintaining documentation to comply with US Customs Requirements; establishing/maintaining a database of Harmonized Tariff Codes (HTCs), identifying opportunities for cost down (duty drawbacks, use of bonded warehouses) to maintain cost control.
- Freight Audit - On a routine and recurring basis, reviewing freight invoices to ensure that the services billed are services that were requested (legitimate shipments), are services that were received (services rendered and completed), and are within contractually agreed-upon rates.
What You'll Bring
- 3-5 years Logistics and/or supply chain management experience; preferably within an international supply chain organization
- An understanding of import/export rules, with the ability to apply them to medium complexity situations
- Experience in project management
- Excellent customer services skills
- Initiative to scope, start, and drive projects and tasks to completion
- Ability to openly seek advice, guidance, and enlist support as needed
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to work with minimum supervision on complex, non-standard responsibilities
- Must be eligible to work in the US
