About the Role
As the Associate Maintenance Lead based out of our commercial operations test site, you will support day-to-day aircraft maintenance execution, ensuring high availability and readiness of our fleet. You’ll work closely with Maintenance Technicians, Shift Leads, and the Maintenance Manager to keep operations running smoothly. You’ll contribute to scheduling, return-to-service workflows, and shop floor standards.
This role is designed for a hands-on operator with technical expertise, strong organizational skills, and a drive to grow into leadership. You’ll play a critical role in supporting staffing alignment, maintaining discipline around SOPs, and enabling Zipline to deliver on customer commitments.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as Maintenance Technician, and Associate Lead
- Support Maintenance Lead in executing daily maintenance schedules and shift coverage
- Assist with managing return-to-service pipeline, backlog, and inspections
- Coordinate aircraft receiving and conformity checks
- Reinforce shop floor SOPs, productivity targets, and safety protocols
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Technicians as needed
- Help deploy Mobile Maintenance operations under direction of leadership
- Contribute to staffing plans, technician onboarding, and training support
What You'll Bring
- 3+ years of experience in aviation maintenance, fleet operations, or a related technical role
- Strong knowledge of aviation maintenance standards, safety regulations, and compliance requirements
- Demonstrated ability to execute maintenance workflows and support scheduling/backlog management
- Hands-on technical skills and familiarity with inspections, return-to-service, and operational discipline
- Interest and ability to grow into team leadership responsibilities
- Flexibility to support shift operations and adapt in a scaling environment
Success Metrics
- Aircraft downtime reduction (scheduled vs. unscheduled)
- Contribution to site uptime and turnaround performance
- Technician productivity, error rate, and training progression
- Shift execution effectiveness and adherence to escalation protocols
- Return-to-service support and backlog closure efficiency
- Compliance with SOPs and readiness for audits
What Else You Need to Know
The starting cash range for this role is $100,000-115,000. Please note that this is a target, starting cash range for a candidate who meets the minimum qualifications for this role. The final cash pay for this role will depend on a variety of factors, including a specific candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, working location, and projected impact. The total compensation package for this role may also include: equity compensation; discretionary annual or performance bonuses; sales incentives; benefits such as medical, dental and vision insurance; paid time off; and more.
