About You and The Role
As our Head of Maintenance Operations, you will lead all Maintenance functions at Zipline’s Houston distribution hub, ensuring our aircraft fleet, ground systems, and infrastructure are always mission-ready. As the first operation of its kind in the region, you’ll be at the forefront of deploying groundbreaking autonomous delivery technology and building a new standard of service from the ground up! The Head of Maintenance Operations owns operational reliability, maintenance systems, staffing, and continuous improvement—playing a critical role in keeping Zipline’s next-generation delivery network running at peak performance.
What You'll Do
- Lead Maintenance Operations: Own all maintenance activities for Zipline’s delivery aircraft, ground systems, and support infrastructure at the Houston site.
- Build and Scale Maintenance Systems: Design, implement, and standardize maintenance tooling, scheduling, and documentation processes that support continuous operations.
- Drive Reliability and Readiness: Achieve high fleet uptime through proactive maintenance planning, effective troubleshooting, and rapid issue resolution.
- Develop and Lead Teams: Hire, train, and manage a high-performing maintenance organization, fostering accountability, safety, and technical excellence.
- Ensure Safety and Compliance: Maintain the highest standards of safety, traceability, and regulatory compliance with audit-ready maintenance records and practices.
- Partner Across Functions: Collaborate closely with Operations, Engineering, and Flight teams to identify issues, prioritize improvements, and implement system-level fixes quickly.
What You'll Bring
- 8+ years of experience leading maintenance or technical operations, ideally in aerospace, aviation, or other complex hardware environments.
- Proven ability to build and scale preventive, corrective, and real-time maintenance systems.
- Strong leadership skills and a track record of developing and retaining skilled technical teams.
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills in high-tempo, dynamic environments.
- Background in mechanical, electrical, or aerospace systems preferred (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience).
- Willingness to travel and maintain a consistent presence at operational sites as needed.
