aVenture is currently participating in the prestigious Techstars New York City accelerator (where less than 1% of startup/founder applicants are admitted) and is looking for an exceptional engineer to join our founding team. Joining our team would instantly bring you into the Techstars program and all of its resources for life.

A successful candidate accepting this position should expect to spend some time in San Francisco or NYC to work closely with the team.

Job Overview: We're looking for a senior engineer & data scientist with experience as a full-stack engineer, including managing large datasets and building scalable infrastructure to lead our engineering and data science efforts. You will work closely and directly with the founding team to get products to market.

1. Key Responsibilities:

• Engineering Leadership: Lead and oversee the development and management of aVenture's data infrastructure, including databases capable of handling millions of records at high speed

• Full-Stack Development: Design, develop, and maintain front-end (React) and back-end (Python/Node.js/Next.js) components of our platform

• Data Science Expertise: Lead and collaborate with other team members on financial research efforts, looking for insights and observations in data sets

• Data Scraping: Conduct large-scale web scraping of publicly published content for data ingestion

• Model Building & Analysis: Develop and implement linear regression models to extract valuable insights from financial datasets

• Data Pipelines: Implement and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines to support analytics and AI-driven insights

• AI: Direct the deployment and integration of advanced AI, ML, and Large Language Models (LLM) into the company's data ecosystem

• Governance: Ensure data quality, safety, and consistency across various platforms, enforcing best practices in data governance

• Collaborative: Willingness, desire, and ability to closely collaborate daily with a very small technology startup team on nearly all aspects of product building

2. Requirements:

• Technical Prowess: 5+ years of experience with full-stack development and several years of data engineering experience, specifically in managing large-scale financial and/or research-based SQL databases

• AI/ML: Deep understanding and practical experience in deploying AI and Large Language Models in a research and financial context

• Data Scientist: Strong proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, or Scala and experience with big data technologies

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field

• Technical Leadership: Excellent leadership skills with experience managing engineering staff
