Job Description
The Health Coach Manager will manage a team of Health Coaches, in addition to health coaching. Initially, the position will involve the majority of the time coaching, and over time as the team grows this will transition towards 80% management and 20% coaching.
We are looking for a Health Coach Manager to help scale our coaching team, implement QA processes, and new technology systems and processes needed to support the team’s growth.
- Management Responsibilities
- Manage and lead a team of health coaches, providing day-to-day oversight, support, and performance management.
- Scale the team in line with company growth, including workforce planning, hiring, and onboarding of new coaches.
- Alongside our other Health Coach Managers, build and lead a quality assurance (QA) function for the coaching team, including audit processes, scorecards, and session/call review workflows.
- Partner with product and engineering teams on the rollout and adoption of new tools and technology platforms used by the coaching team.
- Set, track, and report on KPIs and quality metrics for coach performance and participant outcomes.
- Coach, mentor, and develop individual team members, identifying skill gaps and training needs.
- Report on team performance, quality trends, and scaling progress.
- Coaching Responsibilities
- Osara Health’s coaches help empower individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer, or those who are caregivers of those with cancer, to engage in behaviours proven by clinical evidence to improve their clinical outcomes – for example exercise, diet, or symptom tracking.
- Our coaches use empathy and accountability to help participants develop and work towards health goals. Their role is to ask questions, provide actionable suggestions and practical tools to assist patients and caregivers to take back control of their health.
- An Osara health coach’s primary function is to take our participants, from various customer types, through our Osara programs via email, calls and SMS.
Roles and responsibilities
- Program phone calls covering the core elements of holistic cancer support (for both patients and caregivers)
- Communicate via SMS and email to provide follow-up support and schedule calls
- Call people with a cancer diagnosis to assist with enrolling them onto the program
Educational requirements
- Healthcare background
- a relevant qualification and/or
- 1 – 3 years previous experience in healthcare ie nursing, allied, public health.
- And/or, previous health coaching training/experience
Essential skills
- Strong people leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to design and scale operational processes across a growing team.
- Analytical mindset, with the ability to build and interpret quality and performance metrics.
- Coaching and mentoring capability, with a track record of developing team members.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to help build strong relationships with participants
- Works well in teams
- Empathy, patience, compassion and a positive attitude
- Proactive
- Strong computer/IT skills, have worked remotely
- Experience working with Slack, and on an Apple computer
Required Experience
- 5+ years of people management experience, ideally within healthcare, coaching, or a similar service-delivery environment.
- Demonstrated experience scaling a team through a period of growth (e.g., significant headcount increases).
- Experience implementing or rolling out new technology or tools within a clinical or coaching team.
- Experience building or maturing a QA function, including audit and review processes.
