This position is under the general supervision of the Manager of Strategic Giving programs and will work extensively with a team of employees within the Division of University Advancement and the Board of Directors of the UWL Alumni & Friends Foundation.
The Strategic Giving Programs Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the planning, implementation, and execution of programs that cultivate relationships with donors and prospects at the annual (<$500), emerging ($500-$2,500), and leadership levels (<$25,000) while achieving predefined contribution, retention, and engagement goals.
Candidate must be able to travel via all modes of transportation. Must have valid Driver’s License. Position requires significant time using telephones and computers.
Working conditions and environment: Some local travel required. Some evenings and weekends required as well.

Key Job Responsibilities:
Create multi-step solicitation appeals that align with divisional goals and campus-wide priorities
Requires collaboration with team members to identify intended donors, track appeal data, steward donors, and report out results
Requires the design, writing, and creation of collateral for several channels (including but not limited to email, mail, social media, text, etc.)
Provide educational content to students and campus partners about how philanthropy impacts the university while also creating opportunities for these audiences to engage with the work of the UWL Alumni & Friends Foundation
Requires using several channels to communicate information (including email, social media, and occasionally public speaking)
Requires collaboration with team members to execute cultivation and stewardship opportunities for these audiences
Serve as an assistant to the Manager of Strategic Giving Programs for the planning, coordination, and execution of UWL’s giving day, One Day for UWL, and any future fundraising-focused events
Requires solicitation of matches and challenges to be utilized in leveraging the fundraising success of campus units, divisions, departments, and programs
Requires in-depth knowledge of all communication, solicitation, acknowledgment, and stewardship processes to support team members, campus partners, alumni, friends, donors, students, and any other stakeholders involved
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Draft formal correspondence, proposals, and other written materials
Collaborate with other Alumni & Friends Foundation department members to ensure team success
Affect and maintain a professional, proactive, positive, and performance-centric work environment
Complete all other duties assigned by supervisor. Duties and responsibilities may change at any time
Maintain donor and alumni relationships to enhance connection with UWL while simultaneously supporting the fundraising pipeline to ensure long-term philanthropic support
Requires identifying donors based on criteria, creating personalized touchpoints, and determining optimal opportunities for solicitation
Requires continual creation and oversight of several workflow processes to ensure an ideal cadence that supports the continuation of relationships, specifically with donors in the emerging donors level ($500-$2,500) and leadership annual giving ($2,500 - $25,000) and new donors ($5-$25,000)
Collaborate with the Manager of Strategic Giving Programs to ideate on strategies and tactics, maintain budgets, create reports, and achieve fiscal year goals
Requires use of CRM to effectively track data points, gather insights, and develop informative reports
Requires being a knowledge-based resource for the UWL Alumni & Friends Foundation Board, the Division of University Advancement, and the campus to offer insights and recommendations

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of experience with prior fundraising, development, or marketing experience; related and relevant skills and experience also acceptable
- Excellent written, verbal, and design communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Strong attention to detail paired with clear organizational abilities
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge or a similar customer relationship management (CRM) system
- Familiarity with marketing email creation and use of CRM integrated emailing software.
- Experience with using content editing platforms such as Canva.
